Colon Cancer Symptoms From Eating Too Much Meat

Important news for all of us, especially those who are more likely to suffer the symptoms of colon cancer. A new report suggests that eating too much meat, including processed meats could just above your risk of colon cancer. Colon cancer is the third most common cancer after skin cancer, diagnosed in the United States.

Doctors tell us that the majority of all ovarian cancers start in the glands lining the colon and rectum. This cancer often begins as noncancerous polyps that eventually turn into cancer. Experts are beginning to believe that what we put into our bodies can play a role in colon cancer risk - a high-fat, low fiber diet, loaded with red or processed meat is not what your body needs to kept free of cancer.

The AICR recommends eating only 18 grams of red meat (beef, lamb, pork) a week as this brings only a small increase in risk of colon cancer. This works out to about five or six small portions a week.

Processed meat is a no-no as the report's findings showed that consumption of processed meats increases the risk of colon cancer twice more than the consumption of red meat. The greater the amount of processed meat you eat, the more risk you have of developing colon cancer.

Those who eat of 24.5 ounces per week (about 3.5 ounces a day) of red meats face a greater likelihood 17% of colon cancer compared to those who do not eat red meat / processed according to the report of AICR / WCRF. Those who ate 7 ounces of red meat a day, a whopping 49 ounces a week, were found to have a 34% greater chance of developing colon cancer.

Why is red and processed meat bad for you?

No one knows exactly, some suggest that chemicals known as heterocyclicamines, a byproduct of cooking meat at high temperature, may play a role. Processed meats are created by such processes only smoking, ie, cured or salted and add things like nitrates - either of those sound very healthy. We also know that changes in the body of nitrates into nitrosamines, which are known to increase the risk of cancer.

Moderate consumption of red meat is a smart move. And in doing so leave more room at meal of good food such as vegetables and whole grains. As for the variety processed, less is more.

The report also warns against excessive drinking, as this may your risk of colon cancer. Excess fat in the abdominal area that appears to play a role in increased risk of cancer, so experts recommend performing other healthy lifestyle - taking more fiber and more regular physical activity as something so important.

Cut red and processed meats in the diet, as well as making other changes in diet and lifestyle (drinking less alcohol, eat more fiber, being active regularly and keep your weight in the healthy range) could prevent nearly half of all colon cancers. That's more than 64,000 cases each year according to the latest findings.

The good news, says the expert panel members who reviewed all the literature on the risk of colon cancer symptoms, is that people have an element of control over the risk of this terrible disease. You can do something to help, but you have to act now, and avoid eating too much meat is an easy place to start.
